About this role

The Firefox Product Team produces Mozilla's flagship product. Through Firefox and a growing set of related services, we're reinventing how millions of people harness the web's effervescence.

Help us grow and expand the industry-leading independent web browser and ecosystem. Serve as a part of our product leadership team and contribute thought leadership by running our competitive assessment, product planning, and strategic research priorities. Investigate new opportunities and solicit ideas through participatory processes to shift the state of the internet from status quo to pro-user.

We are looking for a motivated, positive and high-energy Product Planner to drive the product strategy process and long range plan for Firefox. This exciting opportunity requires a candidate with experience:

  • Defining business models for pivotal initiatives
  • Building business model innovation that includes SKU / value prop tiering, pricing, and distribution channel partnerships
  • Developing competitive landscape analysis and competitive research programs
  • Building, executing on, and defining a bet horizon in addition to maintaining a score card of the return on the bets to identify when to fund the next wave of bets

We don't think about customer value the way our industry peers do—and as a Product Planner you understand existing models bias towards discretely quantifiable valuations.


A successful product planner will identify and nurture emerging strategic bets partnering with Mergers and Acquisition, Business Development, and Product leaderships while monitoring our blind spots and becoming a subject matter authority on new technologies, consumer needs, and services to author perspectives on a changing industry landscape. This role is a strategic operator of our annual product planning rhythm in ensuring we have active research programs to inform our core priorities.

A great strategy only works if it is funding, this role will drive scenario analysis and financial modeling in partnership with Finance to define the budget envelope for each bet. As a strategic partner this role understands a great product experience is more than the sum of its parts and brings comprehensive thinking to valuation including investments in core product tenets like trust and privacy.

For training and conferencing there may be up to 20% travel, to be worked out through priorities you co-define.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of product management related experience in software industry including corporate strategy, venture capital experience, or product leadership roles
  • 2+ years of Product Planning/Strategy experience
  • BS in Business, Computer Science, engineering or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in Business Administration (MBA)
  • Market expertise in commercial Modeling and Simulation
  • Experience with startup business modeling development and planning
