At SalesLoft, our Director of Quality is pivotal to our company’s success. You will be a key member of our fast-growing and high-performing Engineering team who are quality advocates, supportive, and innovative. 


In addition to working with amazing colleagues who exemplify our ‘team over self’ core value, you will also have the opportunity to produce a high-quality, cutting-edge technology platform built on top of AWS, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Postgres, Elasticsearch, and Kafka. Our codebase contains React, Angular, Node, Ruby on Rails, Go, and Elixir.  You will get to work with next generation testing frameworks like Testim, Practitest, Rspec, and Jest.  You will have an opportunity to make a difference.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

We are seeking a leader to guide quality strategy into our next phase of growth. This person will be responsible for practices and tooling across engineering teams.  This person will manage QA team projects, own and take responsibility for the vision and roadmap, manage individual contributors and other managers, and set OKRs and metrics.

As a Director, you will lead the Quality team within the engineering organization, and work across other engineering leaders and teams. You’ll be responsible for team hiring and growth as well as the technology toolset and budget. You would drive a strong sense of accountability and ownership within the team as we grow and face new challenges. 

We are looking for a leader who has seen growth and scale and understands where to implement and expand testing automation across the engineering teams while balancing the value of exploratory manual testing. We are looking for someone who understands and leverages every level of the testing pyramid, spanning across unit, integration, end-to-end, and manual testing.

 

THE TEAM:

The QA Engineering team consists of high performers, quality advocates, supportive and innovative team members who work hand in hand with Engineers to push quality code fast. THE SKILL SET:

  • 10+ years experience in high growth software companies
  • Proven success with both manual and automated QA paradigms
  • Set strategy and vision for the holistic quality of our platform
  • Accountable for driving Quality Initiatives and developing metrics to measure success
  • Manage QA department budget, vender contract management
  • Ability to influence Engineering, Product, and company leadership
  • Process and change management
  • People management including performance and talent management, recruitment, and resource allocation 
  • High levels of emotional intelligence

WITHIN ONE MONTH, YOU’LL:

  • Attend SalesLoft’s New Hire Orientation, where you will learn our SalesLoft story and understand what makes our “Lofters” unique 
  • Meet with Product Development leaders throughout the business
  • Set your OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) with your manager and develop an action plan to achieve them
  • Get to know your direct reports and begin holding 1:1s and understanding career development goals

WITHIN THREE MONTHS, YOU’LL:

  • Create the long term strategic roadmap for QA
  • Identify metrics of quality to measure and report on them weekly
  • Operate independently on hiring to staff the Quality team and facilitate fair and equitable candidate reviews - offline exercises, interview questions
  • Represent the quality department and find your voice among the greater Product Development Leadership team 
  • Be able to help your direct reports start to achieve their career plans, providing input and guidance on capstone projects

WITHIN SIX MONTHS, YOU’LL:

  • Be contributing at 100%, acting as the voice for Quality to the company
  • Begin enacting the Quality Vision through successful execution of new initiatives and practices
  • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders of Quality 
  • Articulate and set targets for measuring quality 
  • Have evaluated and set direction for the portfolio of technologies used in our quality practices
  • Identify and implement Quality improvements across engineering
  • Own Quality hiring process, driving changes and improvements

    THE OPPORTUNITY:

    As a key part of our rapidly growing organization, you will help us build the data infrastructure to power our in-app reporting, analytics, and ML product features. You will work closely with a team of engineers, product managers and designers to help deliver real value to our customers.

    On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for serving as a liaison between the Data Science and Product Delivery teams to architect and deliver end-to-end data pipelines. To that end, the Senior Data Engineer will be tasked with the following: 

    • Develop data flows, services, and applications in various system areas including machine learning, natural language processing, data analytics and third party data integrations
    • Participate in design sessions about your services and applications
    • Collaborate with data scientists and machine learning engineers to train and deploy models in a production environment
    • Perform heads down development, test your code, review peer code, and ship it to production
    • Maintain and debug your services and applications in our production environment
    • Work closely with our Product Management and our Customer Success teams

     

    THE SKILL SET:

    • 4+ years professional hands-on software development experience preferably with high-volume distributed systems experience
    • Strong individual contributor with experience working with teams of 4+ engineers
    • Proven ETL experience in a large data environment
    • Strong coding and design skills with some exposure to micro-service-architecture (MSA)
    • Knowledge of object-oriented methodologies, UML design techniques, event driven architectures, and other design patterns
    • Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
    • Ability to troubleshoot, performance tune, solve problems and write good unit tests
    • Strong communication skills (both oral and written) with experience producing technical and design documentation
    • Understanding of XML, JSON and/or Web-services
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
    • Experience with CRM and/or DMS systems is a plus.
    • Experience with machine learning or artificial intelligence or data sciences frameworks is a plus
