Laura Batson

(She/ Her)  Sr Software Developer, MURAL

I started learning software development when I realized I needed more financial stability for my daughter. I went into tech with very mercenary intentions but fell in love with code and realized being a developer was my dream job. I made it through online bootcamp nights while working part time and caring for a 1-year-old full time. It was hard but it was worth it when I got my first job as a dev. I love my work, I love problem solving, and now I love helping others accomplish their goals towards a career in tech. I joined Women Who Code Atlanta fresh out of bootcamp and am now honored to be a co-director. I’m currently working as a Senior Software Developer for Mural and am loving the fully remote life. I live in Stone Mountain with my husband and daughter, 2 dogs, a cat, and a snake (that I have never touched). I spend my non-coding hours being a mom (housekeeper, chauffeur, cook, lion tamer, etc) and occasionally I get to read a book or attack the weeds in my garden.
